What You Need to Know About E-Mail Scams

<%stf_location%> (10/26/2007)

NEVER give confidential personal identifying information via e-mail or over the phone.  E-mail and phone predators rely on the trust you bear toward any familiar institution.  They will often use a name or identity with which you will be familiar in order to lull you into a false sense of security.  Never give out your personal information unless you initiated the contact.  If someone calls you or contacts you through your e-mail and asks for information, end the dialogue and contact the institution.  Do not use a contact number or link that was provided to you during the dialogue.  Use a number or link that you personally know to be connected with that institution.
